Federer And Djokovic Win In Basel, Fed Cup Final Preview
James Waterson reports the week’s tennis news for Tennis Now. World No. 1 Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer returned to action this week at the Swiss Indoors in Basel, Switzerland. Both men, last year’s finalists, missed the last six weeks because of injury, and they’ve shown some rustiness this week. Yet they’re both in the semifinals, and they’re favored to meet once again the final. Meanwhile, Rafael Nadal has withdrawn from next week’s Paris Masters tournament to rest and prepare for the ATP World Tour Finals and the Davis Cup final. Finally, Petra Kvitova will try to lead the Czech Republic to their first Fed Cup title since 1988, when it was part of Czechoslovakia. But they will have to beat Russia, who has won the title five times in the last seven years, in Moscow.
