Ex-PH tennis association president Andrada dies

FORMER Philippine Tennis Association (Philta) president, Col. Salvador “Buddy” Andrada, passed away on Wednesday morning at his residence in Caloocan City.  He was 84.

Philta Secretary-General Romeo Magat confirmed to The Manila Times via phone interview that Andrada died of cardiac arrest.

Andrada served as Philta president for more than 25 years (1986 to 2005) and was the only Filipino to become president of the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF). He was appointed commissioner to the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) from 2010 to 2016.

He was also appointed twice as Olympic chef de mission in Atlanta in 1996 and in Sydney in 2000.
