[Tennis] Men's and Women's Tennis Sweep Westmont
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The men's and women's SDC tennis teams swept GSAC leading Westmont on Friday, 4-0 for both teams.
On the men's side, the Hawks are now 3-0 in conference play and have a 1.5 match lead.
With both teams playing to clinch at four points, the Hawks grabbed the point in doubles play. Ivan Smith and Chris Papa won at No. 1 Doubles 6-0 before No. 2 Doubles Nick Nienhaus and David Samardzija won 6-3. At No. 3 doubles, Rodrigo Roxo and Paul Niederle were winning 4-3 in their match before the clinching point.
In singles, SDC won No. 1, 3, and 4 singles to clinch the match.
On the women's side, No. 1 and No. 3 Doubles clinched the point for SDC. Sarah Urbanek and Nadine Geschke won their No. 1 Doubles match 6-4. Angela Rinaldi and Valentina Sottile grabbed the No. 3 Doubles win with a 6-4 win as well.
In singles, Rinaldi, Sottile, and Tomi Felix claimed the singles win to put the Hawks at clinching point.
SDC will travel to Marymount on Saturday for another GSAC contest.
