ATP Finals LIVE: Federer LOSES to Tsitsipas as the Greek awaits either Zverev or Thiem in the final
ROGER FEDERER will not be playing in an 11th ATP Tour Finals after losing in straight sets to Stefanos Tsitsipas.
In the battle between the veteran and the rising star, it was the 21-year-old Greek starlet who came out on top to beat the Swiss legend – who is 17 years older than his opponent – 6-3 6-4.
Tsitsipas had to pull out of the Next Generation tournament to play in ATP Finals after a stellar 2019 that saw him rise to number five in the world in August.
And he is proving that he belongs at the highest level, having overcome Friday’s defeat to Rafael Nadal to save 11 of 12 break points against 20-time Grand Slam champion.
The Greek ace will face either reigning champion Alexander Zverev – just 22 himself – or Dominic Thiem in the final when they battle in the evening’s semi-final.
