[Women's Tennis] St. Ambrose closes the fall schedule with another win
Behind the strength of their singles play, the Bees wrapped up the fall portion of their schedule with a 6-3 win at Cornell Thursday afternoon.
St. Ambrose won five of the six singles matches to move to 5-1 overall.
Meg Chadick breezed through her 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles and Meghan Maynard dropped just a single game in her 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5.
Elizabeth Bush earned a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 3 while Emma Lang also won in straight sets 6-3, 7-5 at No. 4.
Kiersten Housenga dropped the opening set of her match at No. 1 singles before prevailing in a third-set super-tiebreaker 5-7, 6-4, 10-1. Gillian Sondgeroth came up short in her match at No. 6.
Housenga also teamed with Lang for an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles, the only doubles victory for the Bees. Maynard and Lexi Yaddof dropped a tiebreaker 7-3 at No. 3 while the No. 1 team of Chadick and Bush fell 8-5.
SAU will resume its season indoors at the Quad City Tennis Club in Moline, Ill., on Feb. 22 against Wartburg College.
