[Men's Tennis] Men's Tennis Falcons win Four Medals to Finish Third in Medal Count at KCAC Fall ...

Winfield, Kan. – The Friends University Men's Tennis Falcons took home four medals to finish third in the medal count this past weekend at the KCAC Fall Championships at the T.H. Vaughan Tennis Center in Winfield, Kan.

Freshman Hugo Prats (FR/Almussafa Velencia, Spain), playing in his second tournament after winning the Tiger Jinx #4 Singles Division, started at #2 Singles for the KCAC Tournament.  He defeated Jase West (KWU) 9-7 in a tiebreaker before dropping his semifinal match against freshman Martin Millos 6-8.  Prats then defeated Nolan Schrader (Bethel) for the 3rd Place Medal.

Kris Veljacic (JR/Zagreb, Croatia) competed in the #3 Singles for the Falcons and defeated Shingi Chingaya (KWU) 8-1, but lost his semifinal outing to SWC Ryan Fung 3-8. He then bounced back to knock off Luke Graham (Ottawa) 8-4 to capture the 3rd Place Medal.

Kerry Dunn (JR/Wichita, Kan. ), playing in the #4 Singles bracket, overcame Zach Shima (Bethel) 8-6 in the 1st Round. After falling in his semifinal match to Sheldon Hawthorne (Southwestern) 1-8, Dunn responded by winning 8-5 over Ottawa Erik Czapinski (Ottawa) to earn the 3rd Place Medal.

In #1 Doubles:  Lasse Scharpmann (SO/Bielefeld, Germany) and Kris Veljacic defeated Soto/West (KWU) 8-4 before losing their semifinal to the top ranked McPherson duo of Turley/Millos 4-8.  They then won 8-6 over Quinones/Aquilera (Ottawa) to win the 3rd Place Medal.
