Serena Williams refuses to give Meghan Markle parenting advice until Archie is at least three-months-old because it’s a ‘difficult’ time
TENNIS champ Serena Williams says she won’t be giving her pal Meghan Markle any parenting advice until Archie is at least three months old.
Appearing on BBC Breakfast to mark the start of Wimbledon, Serena was asked about her friendship with the Duchess of Sussex and how the former Suits actress is adapting to life as a new mother.
The US tennis star first met Meghan at a Superbowl party in 2010 and has remained close friends with the Duchess ever since.
When asked about any parenting advice she could offer her friend, Serena said: “I never pass on words of wisdom, especially when you’ve just had a baby – it’s so difficult to just be.
“I just think, ‘get through the first three or four months and then we can talk.'”
Serena – who gave birth to her daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr in September 2017 – also attended Meghan’s lavish New York baby shower earlier this year.
Reflecting on her own transition into parenthood, Serena added: “Becoming a mum has changed my perspective on a lot of things, I want to leave a legacy.
“I want to be this positive person for my daughter -everything I do, I want to do for my daughter.”
Following Serena US Open outburst in September 2018, the athlete revealed that she confided in her “long-time” BFF Meghan over text.
Speaking to Australian news programme The Sunday Project, Serena said: “We have known each other for a long time, but we really kind of are relying on each other a lot recently.”
Serena and her Reddit founder husband Alexis Ohania were among the chosen guests at Meghan’s wedding to Prince Harry in May 2018.
