[Women's Tennis] Bauss, Mella Recognized as NAIA All-American Selections
MARION, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan University women’s tennis had Lizzie Bauss and Alex Mella represent the program as NAIA All-Americans, released in an announcement by the NAIA national office. Bauss was voted All-American First Team while Mella was selected to the All-American Second Team.
It marks the fourth consecutive year and seventh out of eight that two Wildcats were named NAIA All-Americans.
Bauss made the First Team after being named Honorable Mention in 2017 and Second Team in 2018. Mella is also a three-time recipient as she was named Second Team in 2017 and 2018.
The duo comprised the No. 1 doubles team for the Wildcats in 2018-19. They went 23-8 as a team and advanced to the ITA Midwest Regional Doubles championship match.
Bauss went 14-7 in singles from the No. 1 position for Indiana Wesleyan while Mella finished 19-7 at the No. 2 singles position. Bauss advanced to the ITA Oracle Cup following a win at the ITA Midwest Region Championship.
