[Women's Tennis] Emelianova Earns First Team All-American, Urbanek Named to Second Team
SANTEE, Calif. – Their season might be over, but the SDC women's tennis team is still being recognized for their work on the court.
Aleksandra Emelianova was named a First Team All-American as Sarah Urbanek earned Second Team All-American announced by the NAIA on Tuesday.
Emelianova was a perfect 15-0 in singles play and went 16-1in doubles play. Earlier in the month, she was named to the All-GSAC team for the fourth-straight year. The First-Team selection was her first in her four-year career at SDC.
Urbanek is no stranger to the All-American status. She was named First-Team All-American last year before getting the nod at Second-Team this year. She finished the season with a 15-1 singles record, all at the No. 1 position, and 17-1 in doubles. Urbanek and doubles partner Nadine Geschke are still ranked No. 1 in the nation as a doubles tandem.
The Hawks finished their season 16-3 and fell just short of a trip to the NAIA National Tournament.
