MASON, Ohio -- The Asbury University women's tennis team is headed back to the NAIA National Championship Tournament for the fourth straight year. On Saturday, the Eagles defeated IU East 5-0 in the River States Conference Championship match to punch their ticket to Mobile, Ala. Asbury will head into the national tournament on a seven match winning streak and with an overall record of 12-4.

Despite the 5-0 score, IU East gave Asbury all they could handle early on. The Eagles grinded out two wins in doubles play which helped swing the momentum of the match in favor of AU.

Alexandra Lerma/Giovana Kelm put AU up 1-0 at No. 2 doubles following an 8-2 victory. Although, the other two matches would not come as easily.

Allie Sutton/ Luciana Iriarte outlasted their opponents' late comeback attempt at No. 3 doubles with an 8-6 win respectively.

Alejandra Diaz/Kendall Jablonowski made a terrific comeback at No 1 doubles to preserve the sweep. The duo trailed 7-5 and even fought off a match-point down 7-6 to rally back and win the match in a 9-8 (4) tiebreaker.

With a 3-0 lead already in place, the Eagles only needed to tally two more victories to clinch the title. Kelm played an outstanding match at No. 2 singles and rolled to an easy 6-1, 6-0 victory to give Asbury a 4-0 lead.

Allie Sutton sealed the deal for AU at No. 6 singles with a 6-3, 6-0 effort. All other singles matches that were unfinished were in AU's favor.

Asbury will await their opponent and the release of the pairings for the NAIA National Tournament.
