[Women's Tennis] Tigers fall to Wolves in CCAC Championship Match

0 14

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin -- For the sixth consecutive year, the Olivet Nazarene University women's tennis team faced off against Cardinal Stritch University in the CCAC tournament championship match. Unfortunately for the Tigers, the eighth-ranked Wolves were too much to handle as they took home the hardware, 5-0.

The match was played indoors due to cold temperatures and a threat of rain in the area. The Wolves used this to their advantage as they got off to a quick 3-0 lead, dominating in doubles play. Chelsea Kelly and Antonia Elze beat Tarrannum Handa and Dana Huck 8-3 at one doubles. Assya Trimari and Lisa Keller took down Amanda Eberly and Anna Belschner 8-0 at two doubles, while Susana Andres Martinez and Jovana Parlic fell to Klara Smolikova and Luise Gruber at three doubles, 8-1. Heading into singles play, the Wolves needed just two more matches to clinch the win. Their depth showed again as they picked up wins at four and five singles. Keller defeated Eberly 6-0, 6-1, while Gruber defeated Parlic 6-1, 6-2.

The Wolves receive an automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament, while the Tigers will have to wait and see if they are given an at-large bid into the field of 24 teams.
