[Women's Tennis] UNOH Wins Women's Tennis Tournament
LIMA, Ohio - The UNOH women's tennis team won their third consecutive Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Women's Tennis Tournament with a 5-3 win against Aquinas. The Racers now have five tournament titles in nine years (2011, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019) and claim the league's automatic berth to NAIA Women's Tennis National Championship.
Aquinas took a 2-1 lead after the doubles competition as the Saints won at both the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. Martina Devetak and Reington Gerst battled to an 8-5 win at No. 1 while Kiara Berry and Bella Buck needed to go to 9-8 for the win.
UNOH captured four of the singles competition led by Lena Tessmer who notched the first singles win at the No. 3 slot. Devetak won at the third singles to push it to a 3-2 Aquinas advantage. Gabriela Eva tied the score at 3-3 with her win at No. 4 for UNOH. WHAC Player of the Year Camila Puente put the Racers in front with a 6-3, 6-2 win at the No. 1 singles spot and Ellen Sandstrom finished right after at No. 5 for the final win. The No. 6 singles was left unfinished.
