[Women's Tennis] Urbanek Wins GSAC Player of the Year
SANTEE, Calif. – After going 15-1 at No. 1 Singles and 17-1 at No. 1 Doubles, Sarah Urbanek has been named GSAC Player of the Year.
Urbanek is currently ranked No. 9 in the nation as a singles player and is ranked No. 1 in the nation in doubles with partner Nadine Geschke.
Urbanek was also named to the 2018 All-GSAC Team as a freshman last year.
Joining Urbanek in the awards was Valentina Sottile, as she was named GSAC Co-Newcomer of the year. The junior transfer is ranked No. 14 in the West Region in singles and No. 3 in doubles.
Rounding out the All-GSAC Team are Aleksandra Emelianova and Nadine Geschke. Emelianova went a perfect 15-0 in singles play on the year. Geschke went 15-2 in singles and went 17-1 with Urbanek in doubles.
SDC finished with an overall record of 16-3. All three losses on the year came against Westmont. The Hawks will await an at-large bid to the NAIA National Tournament.
