[Men's Tennis] Tennis Shows Improvement Despite Loss

After losing to host Penn State Brandywine 7-2, Williamson head tennis coach Jason Kutzura knew his team was facing an uphill battle.  The main thing he was looking for was improvement from each player.  It turns out, he not only saw that from each player, he also saw improvement in the final score, as Williamson fell to the Lions 6-3 on Thursday afternoon.

"Penn State is a very good team but our guys played hard and showed some real improvement from just a week ago.  It was a great effort and very encouraging," stated Kutzura.

While each player improved from a week ago, none improved more than Third Singles player John Coleman (SR/Chichester, PA).  Coleman, who lost in a third set tiebreaker last week, didn't allow things to get to a third set on Thursday, as he won in straight sets, 6-2, 7-6. 

Chris Smith (SR/Tullahoma, TN) did what he did last week, as he won in straight sets yet again at Second Singles by the score of 6-2, 6-4.  The Second Doubles team of Isaac Eshenour (SR/Shippensburg, PA) and Adrian Alicia picked up a win as well for the Mechanics.

Williamson will next host Rowan College at Gloucester County on Monday at 3:30 P.M.
