[Tennis] Watson, Scharpmann Named All-KCAC Tennis
WICHITA, Kan. – Sophomore Madeline Watson (SO/Goddard, Kan.) is an All-KCAC women's tennis selection, while freshman Lasse Scharpmann (FR/Bielefeld, Germany) has received a men's tennis all-conference nod, the league announced today (Apr. 25).
Watson, a Goddard, Kan. product, is a second-team pick and helped the Falcons to their best season since at least 2004-05, winning 10 matches to finish 10-8 overall and 5-4 in the KCAC.
"I am so proud of the way Madeline has elevated her game, she takes everyone's best shot and is very successful at #1 Singles!" Friends head coach Sandra Nixon said. "Most importantly, she is a great person."
Scharpmann, an honorable-mention choice, gave head coach Alex Lee valuable production doing his freshman season. He contributed to three Falcon victories, their most wins since the 2015-16 campaign.
"Lasse finished the season as one the top 15 players in the conference and had tough losses to a couple of the best players in the conference while battling a severe case of tendinitis in his elbow," Lee said. "I'm looking forward to next year with a healthy player and a chance for the KCAC title."
