[Women's Tennis] Tigers defeat St. Ambrose 5-0; advance to CCAC Tournament Final
BOURBONNAIS, Illinois -- The Olivet Nazarene University women's tennis team is one match away from their goal of making it back to the NAIA National Tournament. Following an impressive 5-0 victory over the Fighting Bees of St. Ambrose University, the Tigers will play in the tournament championship match of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers got off to a quick 3-0 lead after doubles play, with an 8-5 win from Tarrannum Handa and Amanda Eberly at one doubles and an 8-0 win from Dana Huck and Anna Belschner at two doubles. Jovana Parlic and Grace Matheis won their match at three doubles by default. Heading into singles play, the Tigers found themselves up 4-0 because the Bees did not have a player at six singles. Handa wasted no time clinching the match with her double bagel win at one singles.
The Tigers will head to Milwaukee on Saturday to take on Cardinal Stritch University. This is the fifth straight year that the Tigers will battle the wolves in the CCAC tournament final. Stritch is ranked eigth in the latest coaches poll, while ONU is ranked 24th.
