St. Ambrose locked up third place in the CCAC by closing the regular season with an 8-1 victory over Roosevelt Friday afternoon at the Quad City Tennis Club in Moline, Ill.

The Bees finished 5-2 in the conference to finish alone in third place, behind a pair of national powers - No. 7 Cardinal Stritch (7-0 CCAC) and No. 24 Olivet Nazarene (6-1).

SAU swept the three doubles matches and took five of the six singles matches to defeat Roosevelt (11-8, 3-4 CCAC).

The No. 1 doubles team of Alex Horton and Shannon McEachern and the No. 3 team of Elizabeth Bush and Emma Lang each won 8-4. Meg Chadick and Kiersten Housenga dropped just two games in their 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles.

Chadick also breezed through her No. 3 singles matches, 6-0, 6-0. McEachern (6-2, 6-0 at No. 5), Housenga (6-2, 6-2 at No. 2) and Bush (6-0, 7-5 at No. 4) also won in straight sets.

Lang recovered after dropping the second set to win in a third-set super-tiebreaker 6-4, 2-6, 10-8 at No. 6 singles. The Bees' lone loss was Horton's 10-8 setback in the third-set breaker at No. 1.
