[Women's Tennis] Women's Tennis Wins Fourth Straight, Move to 6-0 in RSC Play

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – The Asbury University women's tennis team won their fourth straight match on Thursday as they defeated River States Conference (RSC) opponent 8-1 at Top Seed Tennis Club.

The Eagles are now 9-4 on the season and 6-0 in conference play. AU is one win away from repeating as River States Conference regular season champions.

Asbury is back in action on April 19 at 3 PM at IU East.

AU dropped one doubles match at the top spot but won at No. 2 and 3 doubles easily by scores of 8-1 and 8-3.

With a 2-1 lead AU would sweep singles play  with several impressive performances.

Alejandra Diaz rallied from a set down to win in a third-set tiebreaker. Diaz lost the first set 7-5, but came back to win the second set 7-6 (7-5) in a tiebreaker and then 10-5 in the deciding third-set breaker.

Giovana Kelm also came back from a set down in her match at No. 2 singles. Kelm lost the opening set 6-3, but then dominated the remainder of the match as she rolled 6-0, 6-1.

The rest of the Eagles followed suit with straight set dominating victories. Alexandra Lerma won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles, while Kendall Jablonowski didn't drop a game in her 6-0, 6-0 win.

Luciana Iriarte and Allie Sutton took care of business at No. 5 and 6 singles with 6-1, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-0 victories respectively.
