[Men's Tennis] Eagles Sweep IUS, Win Eighth Consecutive Match

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. -- The Asbury University men's tennis team continue to roll through River States Conference opponents as AU swept IU Southeast 9-0 on Thursday afternoon at Top Seed Tennis Club.

Asbury is now 10-3 on the year and 4-0 in league play. The Eagles can clinch an eighth straight regular season conference title with a win at IU East on April 19.

Additionally, Asbury has also won eight straight matches and have not lost since March 13. The Eagles have only dropped one match so far in conference play.

On Thursday, it was the same story for the Eagles.

In doubles, Aquille Trotman and Choopat Suvimolstean won 8-3 at the No. 1 position. Joshua Turnquest and Felipe Penuela were the first off the court as they swept 8-0 at the No. 2 spot.

Shane Mustor and Luiz Gustavo Hartkopf held off their opponents at No. 3 with an 8-6 victory.

Turnquest and Suvimolstean won handily at No. 1 and 2 singles with 6-1, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-2 victories.

Hartkopf rolled in the first set 6-0, and then battled out a 7-5 second set win.

Julian Tellez notched a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles and Aquille Trotman remained undefeated in RSC play with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles.

Shane Mustor saw action at the No. 6 singles position and rallied from a set down to win 5-7, 7-5 , 1-0 with a 10-4 victory in the third-set tiebreaker.
