[Women's Tennis] Women's Tennis falls to Bethel 6-3
NORTH NEWTON – The Kansas Wesleyan women's tennis team dropped a Kansas Conference match to the Bethel College Threshers 6-3 on Tuesday afternoon at the Ward Tennis Center on the Bethel College campus.
The Coyotes fell to 1-5 overall and 1-1 in the KCAC in the loss.
In doubles, the teams split the two contested matches. Paola Vargas (SO/Santa Cruz, Bolivia) and Zofia Selwesiuk (FR/Wroclaw, Poland) beat Bethel's Serena Wong and Jennifer Harrison 8-6. Erica Ebenkamp and Mallory Meier from Bethel won 8-2 over Brianna Mendoza (SO/Balch Springs, Texas) and Jessica Smith (SO/Salina, Kan.).
KWU won the first two singles flights as Vargas beat Harrison 6-3, 6-4; and Selwesiuk beat Won 7-5, 6-2. Bethel would win the other three contested flights as Cheyenne Miles beat Mendoza 7-6, 6-3; Ebenkamp beat Smith 6-1, 6-0; and Meier beat Gia Bryant (FR/Lyons, Kan.) 6-1, 6-0.
Wesleyan returns to action on Thursday, hosting Ottawa at 11:30 a.m. at the Salina Central High School tennis courts.
