[Men's Tennis] Men's Tennis rolls by Bethel 7-2 to even conference slate

NORTH NEWTON – The Kansas Wesleyan men's tennis team won five of the six singles matches and two of the three doubles matches to roll by the Bethel College Threshers 7-2 on Tuesday afternoon at the Ward Tennis Center at Bethel College.

The win boosts Wesleyan's record to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in the KCAC heading into Thursday's match with Ottawa.

In doubles, the Coyotes got wins from the No. 1 flight and No. 2 flights. At No. 1, Mario Rincon (SR/Bogota, Colombia) and Michael Moody (SR/Midwest City, Okla.) beat Gabe Johnson and Nolan Schrader 8-4; and at No. 2 Felix Diaz (JR/La Guaira, Venezuela) and Luis Soto (JR/Santo Domingo, Dominican Repub) beat Ryan LaCombe and Jordan Singh 8-2. Bethel got a win at No. 3 as Grant Bellar and Dylan Miera beat Kyle Rice (SO/Topeka, Kan.) and Rodrigo Vera (SO/Lima, Peru) 9-7.

In Singles, the Coyotes won the first four flights and the No. 6 flights. At No. 1, Rincon beat Schrader 6-2, 6-3. At No. 2, Moody beat Miera 6-0, 6-1; at No. 3 Diaz beat LaCombe 6-1, 7-5; at No. 4 Soto beat Johnson 6-2, 6-4; and at No. 6 Shingi Chingaya (SO/Wylie, Texas) beat Singh 6-3, 6-4. Bethel got a win at No. 5 as Shima beat Luckian Campos (SR/Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) 6-0, 5-7, 6-2.

Up next for the Coyotes is a conference match with Ottawa starting at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday at Salina Central HS.
