[Women's Tennis] Women's Tennis Takes Down Nebraska Wesleyan

Doane Women's Tennis won their first match of the season as they came from behind to defeat school rival Nebraska Wesleyan, 5-4, on Tuesday evening in Crete. The Tigers trailed after doubles play, then came back to win four singles matches for the win.

Three of the singles matches went to a tie-break. Doane claimed two of them, which proved to be the key to their comeback.

2. Ariel Ortiz (FR/Fort Worth, Texas) defeated Han Le, 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (10-3)
3. Ava Macke (FR/Omaha, Neb.) defeated Kailey Kissler, 6-2, 6-1
4. Makayla Rice (SO/Lincoln, Neb.) defeated Jordyn Fossell, 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-1)
5. Payton Stalder (FR/Omaha, Neb.) defeated Shea Swanson, 6-2, 7-5
6. Daniella Ruiz-Martinez (FR/Omaha, Neb.) lost to Samantha Slizoski, 1-6, 3-6

Doubles
1. Lauby/Ortiz defeated Le/Kissler, 8-2
2. Macke/Rice lost to Hinshaw/Fossell, 8-5
3. Stalder/Ruiz-Martinez lost to Swanson/Slizoski, 8-5

In an extra singles match, Taylor McHugh (JR/Omaha, Neb.) defeated Say Moo, 8-4.
