[Women's Tennis] Women's Tennis Falls to Friends in Home Opener

Doane Women's Tennis played their first home match of the season on Thursday afternoon but had to go inside Fuhrer Field House to take on Friends University. The Tigers had several close matches but the Falcons were able to pick up a 7-2 win.

1. Brylee Lauby (FR/Lexington, Neb.) lost to Madeline Watson, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4)
2. Ariel Ortiz (FR/Fort Worth, Texas) lost to Amanda Zavala, 7-5, 6-2
3. Ava Macke (FR/Omaha, Neb.) defeated Ariel Williams, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6)
4. Makayla Rice (SO/Lincoln, Neb.) lost to Issabella Smith, 6-0, 6-0
5. Payton Stalder (FR/Omaha, Neb.) lost to Sydney McGrown, 6-3, 6-4
6. Daniella Ruiz-Martinez (FR/Omaha, Neb.) defeated Abigail Thibodeau, 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6)

Doubles
1. Lauby/Ortiz lost to Zavala/Watson, 8-3
2. Macke/Rice lost to Williams/McGrown, 8-6
3. Stalder/Ruiz-Martinez lost to Smith/Cassidy Darrah, 8-5

Doane will take on William Jewell and Ottawa on March 9 in Liberty, Mo., with the Tigers facing the Cardinals at 11 AM. Doane and Ottawa face off at 4 PM.
