[Men's Tennis] Men's Tennis falls to Newman 8-1
WICHITA – Kansas Wesleyan Men's Tennis faced the Newman Jets on Wednesday at Genesis West Central and it was the Jets coming away with an 8-1 win over the Coyotes.
Wesleyan is back in action on Saturday, hosting Texas A&M-Texarkana at 6 p.m. at Genesis in Salina. The match was originally scheduled for Sunday in Winfield, but the teams decided to change to Salina and the indoor venue of Genesis.
The only point of the match for the Coyotes came in doubles as Michael Moody (SR/Midwest City, Okla.) and Mario Rincon (SR/Bogota, Colombia) beat Blake Crawford and Szbin Pusztay 6-0. Newman would win the other two doubles matches as Arthur Justo and Lauri Soome beat Felix Diaz (JR/La Guaira, Venezuela) and Luis Soto (JR/Santo Domingo, Dominican Repub) 6-3; and Teodor Antelj and Marcel Miasoto beat Kyle Rice (SO/Topeka, Kan.) and Rodrigo Vera (SO/Lima, Peru) 6-2.
In singles, Justo beat Soto 6-3, 6-1; Blake Crawford beat Moody in a tightly contested three-set match 7-6 (5), 4-6, 10-7; Soome beat Rincon also in a three-set match 4-6, 7-6 (3), 10-5; Miasoto beat Diaz 6-1, 6-3; Ajani King beat Shingi Chingaya (SO/Wylie, Texas) 6-4, 6-2; and Ian Clifton beat Luckian Campos (SR/Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) 6-1, 6-2.
