Stanford women back in NCAA tennis final
Caroline Lampl staged a dramatic comeback to beat Kaitlyn McCarthy and power No. 15 Stanford to a 4-2 victory over No. 3 Duke on Monday in the semifinals of the NCAA women’s tennis championships in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Lampl, who was inconsistent the first two months of the season and entered March with six losses, has won 11 of her past 12 matches.
Stanford will appear in its third straight national final when it faces Vanderbilt at 10 a.m. PDT Tuesday.
Winners of 19 consecutive matches, the Cardinal (23-3) are going for their 20th national title.
