[Women's Tennis] Women's Tennis Earns First National Tournament Win
MOBILE, Ala. — The 13th-seeded SDC women's tennis team earned their first ever win in the NAIA National Tournament with a convincing 7-2 win over the host University of Mobile on Tuesday.
The win gives the Hawks a 12-6 record and moves them into the Second Round to face off against No. 4 Lindsey Wilson on Wednesday.
SDC swept doubles to jump to a 3-0 lead. No. 3 Doubles partners Miriam Boeta and Paula Vazquez earned the first point with an 8-0 victory. Sarah Schaerer and Aleksandra Emelianova won 8-5 before Sarah Urbanek and Nadine Geschke finished with an 8-4 win.
Emelianova, Geschke, Vazquez, and Urbanek won their singles matches. The Hawks secured the match as Geschke won her match for the 5-1 lead. In the first round of the tournament, all nine points are played out.
