[Men's Tennis] Men's Tennis Eliminated from NAIA National Tournament
MOBILE, Ala. — The SDC men's tennis team led 2-1 after doubles play in the First Round of the NAIA National Tournament against Tennessee Wesleyan.
But the Bulldogs completed the comeback and defeated the Hawks 5-4 to eliminate them from the tournament. The loss evens their record at 8-8 and now their record in the national tournament sits at 2-3.
SDC dropped their first doubles match as Aliaksandr Meliuk and German Ziella lost 8-4. Alonso Tellez and David Samardzija grabbed the first point for the Hawks with an 8-4 win before Innocent Tidimane and Nick Bell captured an 8-6 win to go up 2-1.
The Bulldogs grabbed the first three points of singles, trailing 4-2. Meliuk and Samardzija won their matches to tie the match at 4-4.
No. 1 Singles was the only set to go the distance. Tellez dropped the first game 6-4 before winning the second 6-2. The third went into a tiebreaker where Tellez lost 7-6 to officially end their season.
