[Tennis] SSC Tennis Teams Prepare for National Championships

Both Seminole State College tennis teams are preparing for the upcoming 2018 NJCAA Tennis National Championships. First up, the women travel to Waco, Texas to compete May 6-10, 2018. The women's team finished the regular season with 8 wins and 6 loses, going 5-3 against Jr. College competition. The SSC women's tennis team were ranked as high as #6 in the nation this spring in NJCAA, and enter the National Championships as the #8 ranked team in NJCAA. Freshmen Valentina Gonzalez of Medellian, Colombia and Mariam Mujawimana of Bujumbura, Burundi lead the women's team and are expected to be high seeds in their draws at next week's tournament.  On the men's side, the Trojan men finish the season with an overall record of 9 wins and 7 loses. They went 5-4 against NJCAA competition and were ranked as high as #4 in NJCAA this spring. The Trojans will enter the 2018 NJCAA National Championships as the #6 ranked team in the country, as the event will take place in Plano, Texas May 13-18, 2018.  Several sophomores lead the team, as 5 of the top 6 singles players are all in their second year and look to help the Trojans place high at the National Championships.
