[Men's Tennis] Despite Team's Loss, Fox Comes Up Big for Williamson

When taking on 5-time national champion Rowan College at Gloucester County, it is rare that Williamson ever wins a match.  The Roadrunners have dominated the local and national junior college men's tennis scene for years.  Yet, despite that fact and Williamson's track record against them in the past, junior Devin Fox (JR/Aston, PA) proved that anything can happen, as he stunned his opponent at Fifth singles in a third set tiebreaker to give Williamson a point on the day.  Unfortunately for Williamson, that was the only upset they were able to pull off as they fell to the powerhouse Roadrunners, 8-1.

With nationally ranked flight players at each of their spots, RCGC raced out to an early lead and had the match locked up pretty early on.  Despite that, Fox kept battling and chipping away and in the end, pulled off one the biggest match upsets for Williamson in a long time.

"Devin has improved so much since last year," exclaimed Williamson head coach Curtis Schofield.  "We and all the guys have worked hard and their hard work is being seen on the court.  I'm proud of each of them."

Williamson now looks to the 2018 NJCAA Region XIX tournament this Friday at Mercer County Park.  The top two finishers in each flight automatically qualify for the 2018 NJCAA National Championships in Texas.
