[Women's Tennis] Women's Tennis Secures GSAC Regular Season Title
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — The SDC women's tennis team took two doubles matches and three singles matches to clinch sole possession of the GASC Regular Season title and the No. 1 seed heading into the GSAC Tournament.
The Hawks defeated Westmont 5-4 for their 15th straight GSAC regular season win and improved to 9-6 on the season with a 6-0 conference mark. The Warriors fell to 8-10 on the season and 4-2 in the GSAC.
Sarah Urbanek and Nadine Geschke won at No. 1 Doubles 8-5. Sarah Schaerer and Aleksandra Emelianova won 8-2 in No. 2 Doubles.
The Hawks and Warriors were tied at 4-4 with one match to play. Schaerer was able to defeat Isabel Lee at No. 1 Singles 5-7, 6-0, 6-1 to secure the title for SDC.
SDC will play Hope International in the semifinal round of the GSAC Tournament starting on Thursday at 9 a.m.
