[Men's Tennis] Historic Tennis Match for Williamson Ends in Defeat

Tuesday was an historic event for the Williamson tennis team as for the first time in the history of the program, they took on a four-year college program.  Sadly, for the Mechanics, they ran into a tough opponent in Penn State Brandywine and ended up being blanked by a score of 9-0.

All the matches were competitive on the day but despite that fact, Williamson was unable to take a set as they dropped to 0-2 on the year.  Despite the loss, Williamson head coach was impressed by both the Lion and his Mechanic team.

"They are a good team," stated Schofield.  "While they probably wouldn't beat some of the upper level junior college teams on our Region, they certainly would hang with them and give them a run for their money.

"Our guys made some mistakes and there are things we have to work on but they didn't quit.  They kept at it.  There are some things we can improve on that hopefully will lead to some different results next time out."

That next time out will be on Thursday and it will once again be against Penn State Brandywine as the two team will meet up once again in a 3:00 P.M. start.
