[Men's Tennis] Men's Tennis Splits Weekend Matches in Phoenix

PHOENIX – The SDC men's tennis team went 1-1 in the 3-day trip to Arizona over the weekend.

The Hawks started off with a win on Friday against Ottawa University-Arizona with a 5-3 score. SDC swept the doubles play and grabbed two of the singles to claim the fifth point of the match and securing the win. The Spirit won three singles before the match was called.

Alonso Tellez won his No. 1 Singles match 6-0, 6-3. Innocent Tidimane captured the 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 3 Singles.

Weather played an issue with the match against Arizona Christian on Saturday. The two teams were only able to get doubles in before the rain postponed the rest of the match until Sunday. Tellez and Samardjzija were the only ones to grab a point from the Firestorm.

Heading into singles on Sunday, Tellez and Carl Lindqvist-Nilsson were the only singles to win for the Hawks as ACU defeated SDC 6-3 for their first loss of the GSAC season.

Their Sunday match that was scheduled against Lewis-Clark State was canceled due to rain.

The Hawks will be back on the court on Wednesday against Colorado Mesa at the Lake Murray Tennis Club.
