[Women's Tennis] No. 8 Women's Tennis Sweeps HIU in GSAC Opener

FULLERTON, Calif. – The SDC women's tennis team got back on track Saturday with a 9-0 victory over Hope International to open up GSAC play.

The win gets the Hawks to 2-1 on the season and the 1-0 mark in the GSAC.

SDC was awarded a point in doubles as HIU didn't have enough players for their No. 3 team. Miriam Boeta and Paula Vazquez won be default. Sarah Schaerer and Sarah Urbanek won an clean 8-0 No. 1 Doubles match and Aleksandra Emelianova and Nadine Geschke won 8-1 for the 3-0 lead heading into single play.

The Hawks clinched it immediately as the Royals were unable to field the No. 5 and No. 6 Singles to go up 5-0. In the singles matches that were played, the Hawks won no worse than a 6-1 set in all matches.

SDC will look to take on another GSAC foe that went to the NCAA Div. II ranks. Hawks will host Concordia Irvine on Wednesday starting at noon at the Lake Murray Tennis Club.
