[Men's Tennis] Point Loma Defeats Men's Tennis for First Loss of the Early Season
SAN DIEGO – The SDC men's tennis team dropped to an old GSAC foe on Tuesday.
The No. 6 team in NCAA Div. II defeated the No. 12 team in the NAIA 8-1, giving the Hawks the first loss of the season. They opened with a win over Biola this past weekend.
The Sea Lions were able to beat SDC for the second time in two years.
SDC was able to take a point from doubles as Alonso Tellez and David Samardzija defeated CJ Erion and Yuki Okamoto in No. 2 Double 8-2. PLNU was able to sneak away with close wins in No. 1 and 3 doubles. German Ziella and Carl Lindqvist-Nilsson dropped a close 8-7 match in No. 3 doubles after Aliaksandr Meliuk and Innocent Tidimane fell 8-6.
In singles, the Sea Lions were able to take all their matches in two sets. Tidmane was the closest on breaking the trend, before falling 6-4, 7-5 in No. 3 Singles.
The Hawks will open up GSAC play against Hope International on Saturday in Fullerton.
