A ball boy brutally murdered a moth at the US Open and the crowd cheered him on
That’s what happens when you interrupt Rafael Nadal.
The crowd at the US Open gathered in Arthur Ashe Stadium on Friday night to watch two men — Rafael Nadal and Juan Martin del Potro — play tennis for a spot in the championship match on Sunday.
What they got instead was the ruthless murder of an innocent moth and the cover up of the crime in its aftermath.
During the match, a moth entered the court and landed near Rafael Nadal and he tried to pick it up and get rid of it. He couldn’t though, so a nearby ball boy rushed to the rescue and took care of it.
And by take care of it, I mean murdered it on national television. He murdered it real good.
The crowd even cheered him on, which probably didn’t make that moth’s family feel too great as they flitted around under the lights. That moth just wanted to be closer to the action!

There was some flopping around and struggling of the ball boy before he finally managed to do it, so he probably didn’t appreciate having to do it on TV in front of millions of people either. Here’s hoping he got a bonus for that.
After the moth was dispatched, Nadal started mowing over Del Potro like he was a monster truck rolling over some minor ant hills. So maybe the moth was a curse against his abilities the entire time.
You’ll also be unsurprised to know that those watching did not appreciate the cameras showing the moth’s last moments on this planet, especially since the cameras decided to zoom in on it as much as possible.
The real winner of the Us Open is the Moth. Poor thing, he didn't have to kill it! #MoththerealVIP #USOpen

Someone (gently) teach the ballboy that he didn't need to kill that moth #usopen #otheroptions

Someone did have a pretty good comparison for the occasion though...
The ball man and moth is a nice symbolism of Coco's US Open dreams being literally crushed in the last 24 hours.

Now that hurts.
