Eritrea’s Andemariam to head CECAFA
February 9 – Eritrea’s Paulos Weldehaimanot Andemariam has been voted the new president of the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA).
Andemariam, the president of the Eritrea National Football Federation (ENFF), stood unopposed in the presidential elections at the CECAFA general assembly in Djibouti after both Moses Magogo of Uganda and Alexandre Muyenge of Burundi had withdrawn their candidacy.
He won a four-year term to run one of the six zonal unions of African football.
