Aaron Pico is now a free agent, but that doesn’t mean he’s moving on.

A person with knowledge of the situation confirmed to MMA Fighting that the longtime Bellator and PFL fighter has entered free agency and may accept offers from other promotions as the PFL’s exclusive negotiating window has closed. However, PFL still has matching rights.

John Morgan was first to report the news.

Pico has 16 fights under the Bellator banner, but the promotion was absorbed by the PFL in November 2023. The 28-year-old competed once for the organization at PFL vs. Bellator a year ago, where he avenged one of his prior losses to Henry Corrales, stopping the veteran fighter via TKO in the first round.

After getting stopped in both of his 2019 appearances, Pico went on to win nine of his next 10 contests, finishing seven of his opponents. The Jackson-Wink standout is currently riding a three-fight win streak.

Following UFC 311 this past month, UFC CEO Dana White told reporters that the matchmakers were “definitely” interested in Pico potentially joining the roster.

Damon Martin contributed to this report.
