Sooners Trail Texas At Halftime

Oklahoma's football team trails #1 Texas 21-3 at halftime at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas, on Saturday.

Texas got the ball to start the game and on the third snap of the game, Quinn Ewers was intercepted by Billy Bowman on a diving catch at the Longhorns' 45-yard line.

The Sooners gained 18 yards, but had to settle for a field goal attempt, and Tyler Keltner was wide right from 44 yards out to keep the game scoreless.

Three straight possessions followed that ended in punts, with both Texas possessions just three downs and out.

OU then went 38 yards in 11 plays to set up a 42-yard field goal by Keltner to take a 3-0 lead with 10 seconds left in the first quarter.

Texas took the ensuing possession 75 yards in 10 plays to take the lead.

Quinn Ewers passed to DeAndre Moore for 26 yards and to Gunnar Helm for 21, which set up a 7-yard touchdown pass to Helm to put the Longhorns up 7-3 with 11:20 to play in the second quarter.

The next three possessions resulted in punts, then Texas extended their lead with a 4-play, 84-yard drive that had two huge plays.

Ewers passed to Ryan Wingo for a gain of 44 yards.

On the next play, Quintrevion Wisner was on his way to scoring a touchdown on a 36-yard run, but had the ball stripped out of his hands.

The loose ball bounced into the end zone, and Silas Bolden recovered for the Longhorns for a touchdown to put Texas up 14-3 with 2:21 to play in the first half.

On OU's next possession, Michael Hawkins was trying to run for a first down and Anthony Hill stripped the ball out, with Vernon Broughton recovering for the Longhorns at the OU 43-yard line.

On the next play, Wisner went 43 yards for a touchdown to put Texas up 21-3 with 1:40 to play in the second quarter.

Oklahoma turned the ball over again on their next possession, as Taylor Tatum fumbled and Derek Williams recovered for Texas at the OU 42-yard line.

OU held Texas to a field goal attempt and Bert Auburn missed a 44-yarder wide left with seven seconds left in the first half.

Oklahoma has won 8 of the last 10 meetings and 11 of the last 15 in the series.

Texas started the game as a 17-point favorite, their largest favored point spread vs. Oklahoma since 1996.

The Longhorns are ranked #1 for the first time against Oklahoma since 1984.
