Austin Reed Had By Far The Funniest Victory Speech In Bears History

0 2

The Chicago Bears quarterback room was center stage throughout this season of Hard Knocks. Caleb Williams was obviously the focal point as the #1 overall pick. However, guys like Tyson Bagent and Brett Rypien got their chances to shine. However, the one who may have stolen the show is undrafted rookie Austin Reed. It started when he had the best music performance of any rookie in front of the team an episode earlier. The kid has a pretty good voice. He then helped his case further by leading two touchdown drives in the second half of the preseason finale against the Kansas City Chiefs. Yet the best moment was saved for the closing minutes of the game. Reed went out to run the victory formation. Before that he made a speech to the guys in the huddle.

It was easily one of the funniest a Bears quarterback has ever given.

Austin Reed is an incredibly likable young man.

Before heading out to the huddle, he was seen thanking offensive coordinator Shane Waldron for believing in him enough to give him the opportunity in Chicago. That is the sign of somebody who was raised right. His personality is infectious. Unfortunately, Austin Reed was cut on Tuesday along with Rypien, signaling the Bears would roll with two quarterbacks during the season. Still, it wouldn’t be surprising if they brought him back on the practice squad. He did enough to earn that chance. One thing is for sure. His teammates would probably love to have him stick around. That sense of humor and self-awareness is always great for the locker room.
