Aaron Rodgers being named one of the 100 best NFL players of 2023 by his peers was very confusing
NFL Network started to unveil its Top 100 Players of 2024 list on Monday, and a very unexpected name popped up at spot 92.
Despite only playing a handful of snaps in 2023 before tearing his Achilles, New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers was named one of the 100 best NFL players of last season.
The NFL players vote on this annual list, which clearly takes Rodgers’ career as a whole into account rather than what he did in 2023. The rankings also look a bit ahead to 2024, but you’d think him not playing last season would play a major part in this list.
That ranks above Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence (94), who played the bulk of the 2023 season and obviously had a much, much bigger impact on his team than Rodgers had for the Jets.
This is a curious selection to say the least.
