Video: Dmitry Bivol knocks out Malik Zinad, rebooks Artur Beterbiev fight for October

Dmitry Bivol vs. Artur Beterbiev is alive and well.

Bivol made sure of that by dispatching Malik Zinad with a sixth-round TKO at the Wilder vs. Zhang boxing 5v5 fight card on Saturday at the Freedom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In doing so, Bivol (23-0) defended his WBA and IBO light heavyweight titles.

Bivol was originally slated to meet Beterbiev in a much-anticipated bout on the June 1 card to crown an undisputed light heavyweight champion, however Beterbiev withdrew from the contest in early May after suffering a ruptured meniscus. Zinad (22-1) instead stepped in on short notice, but Bivol was ultimately too much to handle, dropping Zinad in the first round before finishing him off with a flurry that prompted a referee stoppage in Round 6.

Bivol is now expected to face WBC, IBF, and WBO champ Beterbiev (20-0) on Oct. 12 in Riyadh to decided boxing’s next undisputed light heavyweight champion.
