It’s been 17 years in the industry and the only regret Ashita Dhawan has is that she didn’t wait to cash in on the opportunity to play another lead character after her stint in Ladies Special. Today, she feels that she undermined herself back then. However, she has now turned over a new leaf and is back with a renewed vigour and faith in herself. She shares, “Everybody gets that one opportunity in life where you can make or break it. Somehow, I always underestimated myself and didn’t consider myself as lead material. I always felt I wasn’t good-looking, my skin isn’t very bright and I have a slight depression on my nose. However, that myth broke when I bagged Ladies Special, in which I played one of the four protagonists. It’s difficult to crack back-to-back lead roles because I didn’t have the holding capacity. In retrospect, I feel that I should have given myself a chance to fit into the bracket of leads.”
