Templegate says punters can BUZZ off with a big profit in the Betfair Hurdle (3.35 Newbury, nap).
Nicky Henderson’s flyer came with a late rattle when just denied at Ascot last time and has top-class Kevin Brogan taking off a valuable 5lb.
1.50 Newbury
SOUTHFIELD HARVEST was a big improver when second on his handicap debut at Wincanton on Boxing Day. He finished strongly over 2m5f so should be much happier going up to this trip. It’s still early days and there’s a lot more to come.
Everglow boxed on in the Lanzarote at Kempton and is another who will like three miles. Philip Hobbs is going well and he’s a threat.
Sizable Sam is progressing fast and landed his second hurdles win in style last time. He’s a threat while Palmers Hill is interesting switched back to timber.
2.05 Market Rasen
MINELLA DRAMA looks too good after his narrow second in a Haydock Grade 2 last time.
That built on back-to-back wins at Sedgefield and Bangor. This step up in trip should suit and he handles soft ground well.
Stoners Choice won well here last time to land a hat-trick. This is stiffer opposition but he has more to come. Here Comes Johny has 12 lengths in hand when winning a minor Plumpton contest but he’s a proven stayer. Optimise Prime was an easy Hereford winner and has more to offer too.
2.25 Newbury
CLAN DES OBEAUX has had a break since his King George third which looks wise as looked to be feeling the effects of his excellent Betfair Chase second that day.
He won this race two years ago and we know this trip is ideal. He can get the better of Lostintranslation who has had a breathing op since being pulled up on Boxing Day. He was poor in the Betfair Chase too so has something to prove at the moment.

A return to the form of his Gold Cup third would see him go close but that’s not guaranteed. Kalashnikov has never fulfilled his potential over fences but was a good second in the Peterborough Chase and can hit the frame.
2.47 Navan
Tiger Roll makes his comeback in this race for the third time running, with a win two years ago. He was midfield 12 months ago and that’s likely to be his fate again. One of the other Gigginstown runners is likely to take this with BEACON EDGE going close at Naas last time. Stepping up to this trip can help him see off Fury Road.
3.00 Newbury
Champ is likely the best horse in the race and is well fancied for the Gold Cup after his gutsy RSA Chase success at the Festival. He’s not run since then and will surely need a longer trip to show his best. This should leave him spot on for next month.
GREANETEEN was a good second in the Tingle Creek last time and does love this distance. He took an Exeter Grade 2 well before that and is still improving. He can come out on top today. Sceau Royal took a tumble in the Desert Orchid at Kempton on his return to chasing last time. He’s been in good form over hurdles and chased home Altior in this 12 months ago.
3.15 Market Rasen
MICK MAESTRO hacked up at Catterick last time out in December and can defy a hefty weight rise. This trip in soft ground brings out his best and he’ll be right there again.
Ajero is progressive and has had a wind op since striking in a small field at Kempton in November. He has two wins and a second from his three hurdles runs with more to come.
Miss Heritage coasted home at Warwick and more rain would bring her right into this. Gipsy De Choisel was a fair third on his UK debut at Ascot and can’t be ruled out.
3.35 Newbury
BUZZ came from miles back to grab second in the Betfair Trophy last time and has talented Kevin Brogan taking off a valuable 5lb. He has few miles on the clock and can take another step forward.
Cadzand is another on the upgrade after an easy Kempton success. This is hotter company but he could be ahead of the handicapper.
The tip’s stablemate Mister Coffey didn’t enjoy the mud when third at Sandown and will be happy on this better ground. Fifty Ball is another improver with a shout.
