UFC Hall of Famer Pat Miletich reveals he was fired from commentary job at LFA after participating in Capitol protests

UFC Hall of Famer Pat Miletich will no longer be calling fights as a commentator for Legacy Fighting Alliance.

On Tuesday, the former UFC champion revealed that the promotion terminated his employment after he participated in the recent protests in support of President Donald Trump in Washington D.C. that eventually erupted into a violent insurrection at the Capitol building where five people died including a Capitol police officer.

“I just want to let you guys know that I just got a call from the folks at the LFA and they basically informed me that they were getting a lot of pressure because I was at the Capitol,” Miletich said on Instagram. “I want you guys to know that the people I walked with at the Capitol, none of them that I know of were involved in any of the violence. I walked with white people, Black people, a lot of Chinese people who escaped communist China, who are for freedom. It was across the board it was people of different races, religions.

“But the LFA was getting a lot of pressure and unfortunately they felt they needed to distance themselves from me, which hey, I understand their position. I love all those guys, Ed [Soares] and Sven [Bean] and Mark [Bieri] and everybody, I love them. But the price of freedom is going to be heavy guys. Me losing my job is part of the pain. Even the people that pressured the LFA to get rid of me, I’m doing my best to fight for your freedom.”

According to LFA officials, Miletich was removed from the broadcast team for the upcoming LFA 97 card on Jan. 15 as the company conducts a full investigation but no decision has been made on his future with the promotion.

“First and foremost, the LFA supports the participation of the constitutional right to peaceful protest,” LFA officials said in a statement sent to MMA Fighting. “During preparations for the 2021 debut broadcast, it was brought to the LFA’s attention that photos of questionable nature surfaced on various social media outlets involving fight analyst Pat Miletich.

“While the LFA continues to investigate the situation, the decision was made to remove Mr. Miletich from broadcast duties for this Friday’s LFA 97 event.”

Just days ago, Miletich had also posted several photos from the protests while making unfounded claims that the violence was caused by antifa rather than supporters there for President Trump.

“The media is full of sh*t,” Miletich wrote a day after the protests. “No Trump supporters ever caused violence and didn’t attack [law enforcement officers]. I was at the front at the capital when the Proud Boys moved up to the [Capitol]. They absorbed grenades, tear gas and massive amounts of pepper spray and attacked nobody. F**k the media.”

Despite Miletich’s claims, the FBI has denied any involvement by antifa during the violent riots that forced Congress to delay a session where President-elect Joe Biden’s electoral college win was certified.

Since then, numerous protesters involved with the assault on the Capitol building have been arrested by authorities with many charged with Federal crimes.

As for Miletich, he says he holds no ill will towards the LFA for their decision, although he admitted in the same video that he was “a little pissed off” after receiving the news.

“I love those guys over at LFA,” Miletich said. “I understand their position. I will continue to fight for freedom.”

Over the last few years, LFA has become a primary developmental organization for promotions like the UFC with events also currently airing on UFC Fight Pass.
