Raiders’ Jeff Heath to I.R., Vic Beasley, Chris Smith up from practice squad

The Raiders placed safety Jeff Heath on injured reserve Saturday, meaning he’ll miss at least the next three games after a concussion against the New York Jets.

In other transactions, defensive end Vic Beasley and defensive end/tackle Chris Smith were activated from the practice squad and will be available when the Raiders host the Indianapolis Colts Sunday at Allegiant Stadium.

Heath, signed in the offseason from the Dallas Cowboys, leads the Raiders with three interceptions. One of them cam in a 40-32 Week 5 win against the Kansas City Chiefs against Patrick Mahomes. Heath returned it 47 yards to set up a touchdown. It is one of the only two interceptions Mahomes has thrown this season, with Trayvon Mullen having the other in the Chiefs’ 35-31 win on Nov. 22.

Heath also had two interceptions in a Raiders win over Denver on Nov. 15 on a day they had five takeaways.

Against the Jets, Heath led the Raiders with seven tackles. He left the game with 10:22 to play on a tackle attempt of Jets quarterback Sam Darnold at the goal line. Darnold scored on a 4-yard run. He had already been ruled out of the Colts game because of the concussion, as was cornerback Damon Arnette.

The Raiders are expecting Johnathan Abram to return to the lineup at safety after missing the Jets game with a knee injury, with Erik Harris also starting.

Beasley made his Raiders debut against the Jets with eight snaps. Smith has been a frequent activation from the practice squad, having played in five games.
