Peter King issues a P.S. on 49ers — Saints likely to be better when Brees returns
Always read the fine print.
On Monday, NFL savant Peter King gushed over the 49ers, especially the team’s defense, in the wake of their resounding triumph over the Rams.
On Tuesday, King appeared on 95.7 The Game’s Damon, Ratto and Kolsky show and dropped a well-considered qualifier.
The only NFC team better than the 49ers, King opined, is the New Orleans Saints once quarterback Drew Brees returns from his right thumb injury.
Hear it for yourself:
“I think the only team right now that would be better than the Niners is the Saints with Drew Brees in three weeks.” @peter_king on who’s the best team in the NFC

“I think the only team right now that would be better than the Niners, but it would be close, is the Saints with Drew Brees in three weeks,” King said. “I think they would be better just because the quarterback (Brees) is an all-timer and and Jimmy Garoppolo, I think, I really do think is going to be a top 10 quarterback. But he isn’t right now.”
Before you get your “Cody Pickett For MVP” T-shirt in a twist, understand you cannot assail King’s logic, for a couple of reasons. One, he is connected, and two, he isn’t the type to start an argument just to hear himself pound on the table. Even fans know that.
Peter King is a serious journalist that have contacts all over the league. He is more informed about the league than Carter who has to keep up with multiples sports and host a 2-3 hours shows during weekdays.

And two, he’s been loving on the 49ers since before the season started.

S/O to @peter_king he is the only sports pundit before the season that had the @49ers in his top ten(#7) and knew the 49ers were gonna be a problem in 2019! #respect
