The Las Vegas NBA Summer League schedule picks back up on Monday with the Chicago Bulls and New Orleans Pelicans ready to throw down in a battle between last season’s 13th-place finishers.

An earthquake cut short the Pelicans meeting with the New York Knicks and the debut of No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson. With the Bulls now on tap, it will be without Williamson. He’s been ruled out for the remainder of the Summer League after bruising his left knee.
“Zion will move forward from this incident without issue, David Griffin, executive vice president of basketball operations said. “However, in an abundance of caution, we have made the determination that he will not appear in game action for the remainder of the NBA Summer League. He will continue to take part in training and conditioning with our performance team.”
Now that former Pelicans star Anthony Davis is no longer with the team due to a trade with the Lakers that needs to be finalized, it begs the question as to whether Williamson will be enough to lead them and improve upon a 33-49 record from last season.
The Bulls finished in the same position as the Pelicans in their respective conferences (13th), although they recorded 50 percent fewer wins (22-60) and have more concerns to correct in Las Vegas.
Thaddeus Young, Tomas Satoransky and Luke Kornet are the newest additions to the Bulls roster and have been acquired this offseason, while Walt Lemon and Shaq Harrison have been waived.
Chicago boasts a 22-16 all-time record in meetings against New Orleans, although the Pelicans have won the last four regular season games.
