NFL fans had plenty of 'Madden' curse jokes for Patrick Mahomes
Patrick Mahomes put together an MVP season in his first year as the Chiefs’ starting quarterback and came an offsides call away from leading Kansas City to the Super Bowl.
So, it wasn’t much of a surprise when Mahomes was announced as the cover athlete for the Madden 20 video game. He has exactly the kind of starpower and potential that the video-game franchise looks for each season.
But when it comes to football fans, nobody wants to see their favorite player on the Madden cover. It rarely ends well. Last season’s cover, for example, featured Antonio Brown. You can ask Steelers fans how that went.
Some may say that Mahomes is the perfect player to break the Madden curse. As long as he stays healthy, there’s no reason to think that a video game cover could derail a promising 2019 season.
