Shortstop Marcus Semein rejoins A’s after quick paternity leave
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Marcus Semien returned from the paternity list a day earlier than expected, flying in from the Bay Area on Friday after the birth of his second child, Joshua, on Wednesday.
“It’s probably not an upset he’s here a little earlier than maybe he should have been,” manager Bob Melvin said with a smile. Semien started each of the A’d first 55 games before Wednesday and Melvin has a tough time convincing him ever to take a day off.
The A’s sent minor-league infielder Franklin Barreto back to Triple-A Nashville. Barreto started at second base Wednesday and went 0 for 2 with a walk. Overall, Barreto is 0 for 6 in four games with Oakland this year.
