Cage Warriors 92 results: Nathaniel Wood stops Luca Iovine in 50 seconds 

Nathaniel Wood had his hand raised to chants of “UFC” from his hometown crowd at The Indigo at The 02 in London after his quick finish of Luca Iovine in the main event of Cage Warriors 92 on Saturday.

Wood rattled the Italian’s lead leg with calf kicks before he closed the distance and landed a clean left hook that separated the challenger from his senses. It took the Londoner just 50 seconds to register his second bantamweight title defense.

Cage Warriors president Graham Boylan agreed with the passionate crowd that Wood deserves a call up to the big show, but the champion played his cards close to his chest in his post-fight interview.

“I want to perform on the highest level, outside of the UFC that’s Cage Warriors…so we’ll see,” Wood told Dan Hardy when asked if he wanted his next fight to be in the Octagon.

Karl Moore was heavily tipped to become the first man to equal Conor McGregor’s feat of holding two Cage Warriors titles when he met heavyweight champion Mauro Cerilli in the main event of the first main card.

However, it took the Italian champion just 15 seconds to end the bout as he blasted the light heavyweight champion to the canvas with a right hand.

Moore was light on his feet as he landed two crisp combinations in the opening exchanges. Immediately after eating a straight, Cerilli bulldozed his way forward and planted one right hand, followed by another to the head of Moore. The Irishman went down off the second shot and Marc Goddard was on hand to promptly stop the champion versus champion bout.

Nathan Greyson upset the applecart in his clash with Sam Creasey for the vacant flyweight title in the co-main event of the first main card.

Creasey completely dominated the opening two rounds. He took Greyson down liberally and dominated top position without inflicting or taking too much damage. In the third round, Greyson refused to settle on the bottom and swept Creasey after conceding another takedown.

The Londoner stayed composed when Creasey regained guard, but started to rain down elbows and punches as they entered the final minute. After catching Creasey flush with a series of elbows, he poured on unanswered punches before the fight was stopped.

Also in action on the night, Welsh prospect Jack Shore improved to 8-0 with a workmanlike performance against UFC veteran Vaughan Lee. Shore grew as the fight wore on and underlined his dominance in the third as he rag dolled the decorated striker to the ground with a number of takedowns.

In the co-main event of the second main card, Craig “The Thundercat” White called for a welterweight title shot following his second round triangle finish of Alex Montagnani.
